Selection Example: Vertical screw lift feeding a mill bin
Take a 30 kW motor at 1475 rpm turning the screw shaft at 48 rpm. The ratio follows directly: 1475 / 48 = 30.7, so a ratio near i=31 is drawn from the three-stage band and the frame is checked for the axial pull of the loaded screw. In this case the solid output shaft drops onto the screw coupling with the unit bolted flat to the bin top, so no pedestal bearing or belt guard is needed above the floor. Once the ratio is fixed, check the required output torque against the rating table with the service factor applied - that is what decides the frame, not the ratio alone.
